Accessibility Statement

Approved Senior Network® is committed to making this website usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, screen magnification, speech recognition, or other assistive technology.

Conformance status

We build this site to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That standard is also the benchmark the U.S. Department of Justice points to for websites under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

We consider this site to be substantially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. “Substantially conformant” means most of the site meets the standard, with the exceptions described below. Accessibility is ongoing work rather than a finished state, and we re-test as we publish new pages.

What we do

Offer an accessibility options panel on every page, reachable from the button in the bottom right corner, for changing text size, text spacing, link underlines, contrast, and motion. Your choices are remembered as you move through the site.
Design and build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.
Test every page with automated accessibility tooling as part of our build process.
Check keyboard-only navigation, including a skip link that jumps past the menu straight to the page content.
Verify text and interface colors meet minimum contrast ratios before they ship.
Write descriptive alternative text for images that carry meaning, and hide purely decorative graphics from screen readers.
Honor the reduced-motion setting in your operating system by turning off animation and transitions.

Known limitations

We would rather name these plainly than claim the site is perfect.

Embedded application forms

Our program application forms are hosted by a third-party CRM provider and embedded on this site. We do not control that provider's markup. If you have trouble completing a form, contact us and we will take your information directly by phone or email.

Embedded video

Client testimonial videos are hosted on YouTube and play inside YouTube's own player. Captions and playback controls are governed by YouTube. If a specific video is missing captions you need, tell us which one and we will caption it.

Embedded Google reviews

The review feed on our results page is supplied by a third-party widget that renders its own markup, which we do not control. The same reviews can be read directly on our Google Business Profile, and we are glad to read them to you over the phone.

Older blog content

Some articles migrated from our previous website may still contain images without alternative text or headings that skip a level. We are working through this content and fixing it as we go.

Tell us about a barrier

If you cannot access something on this site, or you need information from it in another format, we want to hear from you. Please tell us the page address, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology and browser you were using. That detail helps us reproduce the problem and fix it faster.

We aim to respond within three business days. If a fix will take longer, we will give you the information you were looking for another way in the meantime.

Formal complaints

If you contact us about an accessibility barrier and are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate the matter. In the United States, the Department of Justice accepts ADA complaints at ada.gov.
