Home Care Marketing
Home care PPC and Google Ads management
The fastest channel in home care, and the easiest one to waste money on.
Home care PPC means paying for placement when a family searches for care, usually through Google Ads. It is the fastest way to generate inquiries, it stops the day the budget stops, and it is the channel where home care agencies lose the most money to avoidable mistakes.
Approved Senior Network manages Google Ads for home care agencies, as part of a home care digital marketing program rather than as a standalone service. The reason is simple: ads sent to a weak website, or to an agency that cannot answer the phone, do not produce clients.
Talk to Us About Google AdsWhere the Money Goes
Why home care ads are harder than they look
- Clicks are expensive and getting more so.You are bidding against franchise groups with larger budgets and against lead aggregators who monetize a click differently than you do. A small agency running a small budget against that field needs precision, not volume.
- Half the traffic is not families.Without heavy negative keyword work, you pay for caregivers searching for jobs, students researching papers, people looking for free or Medicaid-covered services, and competitors checking your ads. This is the single largest source of waste we see in home care accounts.
- Geography is unforgiving.Bid too wide and you pay for calls from families in towns where you have no caregivers. Bid too narrow and you miss volume. The right radius is driven by where your staff actually live, not by where you would like to grow.
- Most conversions are phone calls.Agencies measuring only form fills see a fraction of what the ads produce and conclude the channel does not work.
- Speed to lead decides the outcome.A paid click that generates an inquiry nobody answers for four hours is money spent to hand a client to a competitor.
The Work
What we do
- Account build or rebuild
- Campaign structure by service and geography, rather than one campaign covering everything.
- Keyword strategy
- Service and city combinations that indicate a family in a decision window, not broad terms that burn budget on research traffic.
- Negative keyword work
- Ongoing, not a one-time list. Job-seeker terms, free and Medicaid terms, competitor and franchise names where appropriate, and the long tail of irrelevant queries that appears every month.
- Landing pages
- Matched to the ad and the search. Sending paid traffic to a homepage is the second most common waste in this category.
- Call tracking
- Because most of your conversions are calls, and untracked calls look like zero results.
- Conversion tracking to the right event
- Calls of meaningful length, form submissions, and consultation requests, not button clicks.
- Reporting on outcomes
- Cost per qualified inquiry and cost per admitted client, not impressions and click-through rate.
Three Questions First
Before we take an ads budget
We look at three things first, and we will tell you if the answer means you should not run ads yet.
- Do you have caregiver capacity? If you are declining cases for staffing, ads generate inquiries you turn down. That costs money and damages your reputation with families and referral sources. The budget belongs in caregiver recruiting.
- How fast do you respond?A family who submits a form at seven in the evening and hears back the next afternoon has already called two competitors. This is free to fix and it changes the return on every dollar of ad spend.
- Will they land on a site that converts? If the phone number is not visible on a phone, the form asks for eleven fields, or the page does not answer the question the ad promised, the ads are subsidizing a conversion problem.
Agencies that fix these three before funding ads get dramatically better results from the same budget.
Different Jobs
Google Ads versus SEO for home care
Not a competition. Different jobs.
Google Ads
Produces inquiries within days, gives you control over which searches you appear for, and lets you test messaging quickly. It also stops producing the moment you stop paying, and the cost per click rises as more agencies enter your market.
SEO
Takes months to build and keeps producing after the work is done. Cheaper per inquiry over a multi-year horizon, slower to start, and harder to switch off and on.
Most agencies that grow well run both, using ads to cover the gap while organic visibility builds. See home care SEO.
For how to split a budget between them, see our cost guide.
What we do not do
- We do not guarantee a cost per lead.Anyone who does is either making it up or optimizing for cheap leads rather than good ones.
- We do not run ads into a capacity ceiling. We will say so and recommend recruiting instead.
- We do not manage ads in isolation. If your website cannot convert the traffic, fixing that comes first.
- We do not report on impressions. You will get cost per qualified inquiry and, where tracking allows, cost per admitted client.

How much should a home care agency spend on Google Ads?
Enough to gather meaningful data in your market, which varies considerably by metro competitiveness. A budget too small to produce statistically useful volume tells you nothing and gets abandoned after two months. We cover ranges in the cost guide. The more useful question is whether you have the capacity and intake speed to convert what the budget produces.
Do Google Ads work for home care?
Yes, when the fundamentals are in place. They produce the highest-intent traffic available, because someone searching for dementia care in your city has a situation right now. They fail when the landing page is weak, the negatives are missing, or nobody answers fast.
Should we advertise on Facebook instead?
For client acquisition, Facebook underperforms search in home care, because you can target the demographic but not the moment of need. For caregiver recruiting, Facebook often outperforms everything else. If you are capacity-constrained, that is where the budget should go. See home care social media.
How long before Google Ads produces clients?
Inquiries within days. A reliable read on cost per admitted client takes longer, usually a few months, because the sample has to be large enough to mean something and home care decisions take days to weeks.
Can we run ads ourselves?
Some agencies do. The two things that usually go wrong without experience are negative keyword management and call tracking. Without the first you pay for job seekers. Without the second you cannot see most of your results and conclude the channel failed.
Running ads and not sure what they are producing?
We will audit your account, your landing pages, and what happens after an inquiry arrives, then tell you whether the budget is working. You get the findings either way.
